The Permission Studio
The Name That Kept Coming Back
Holding space for what can’t be optimized.
I’ve been thinking about a name.
Not in a big change way, just something that keeps coming back, quietly, like it wants my attention.
For years, everything I’ve done has lived under Give Yourself Permission to Live Your Life. That phrase is still very true for me. It’s the heart of my work. Most people already know, on some level, what they want. They just hesitate. They wait. And I’ve always helped people see that they’re allowed to choose differently.
That part isn’t changing.
But recently, something happened that stayed with me. I donated a private Vision Board workshop to a women’s group and, without really thinking about it, I listed the business as The Permission Studio. It was so long ago, and I was sure I would have integrated it by now. However, when they shared it, and I saw it… it took me off guard.
But it all just… worked. It felt natural. Like something I had already stepped into.
And I think that’s what caught my attention.
Because the work itself has been shifting for a while now. It’s not just about the moment of permission anymore. It’s what comes after. What you build from it. How you stay with it when things get uncomfortable or unclear. How you shape a life that actually reflects who you are, not just what you thought you were supposed to do.
And I find myself wanting a name that can hold that.
Something more expansive for this stage of my life, and for this moment we’re all in. There’s so much happening with AI, with efficiency, with things moving faster and becoming more streamlined.
And I don’t see that as a bad thing.
But I do think something needs to sit with it.
Humanity. Creativity. Space to also think, feel, and make decisions that aren’t just optimized, but actually right for you.
That’s the work I’m drawn to.
The Permission Studio feels like it could hold that.
Not instead of Give Yourself Permission, but built on top of it. As if Give Yourself Permission is the foundation, the philosophy… and The Permission Studio is the place where it comes to life. Where people come to think, to create, to shift things in a real way.
There’s also a slightly messier layer to all of this. I may have inadvertently let the Give Yourself Permission trademark lapse. Not intentionally. Just one of those things that happens when life is full. But even that made me pause, not in a reactive way, more in an honest one.
What am I actually holding onto, and what am I ready to grow into?
I don’t have a final answer yet. But it feels less like I’m trying to figure something out, and more like I’m noticing what’s already happening. And learning to trust that.
I’d be curious what you feel when you hear both. Not only from a branding perspective, just instinctively.
Which one feels like somewhere you’d step into.
